Katarína Kačicová is a visual artist based in Slovakia, Europe. Landscape architect graduate, but for a decade her main focus has been painting and photography. Katarina is a mother of three kids, has a passion for BMX and running.
In her works, the imaginary worlds remove the viewer from their commonly understood vantage points and take them into more surreal worlds. By compositionally combining, layering, and transposing liquid forms she creates compositions that evoke a variety of feelings and the practice of finding order within chaos. By moving and removing the context of the subjects the images become very abstract. She puts the viewer in a position to speculate what (or where) it is they are seeing. Because of this, the images evoke ideas around vantage point, perception, and imagination.
Her artworks communicate ideas about reality and the way they can blend with an imaginary reality. In this way, there is a sense of change, caution, and a fluid movement into alternate realities, landscapes into mindscapes. Her work shows details of an imaginary environment that are unseen in daily life.
The structures in the images appear to be organic-graphic elements in the frame, prompting the viewer to ask questions about the imaginative mind of their creator. The photos are interesting because they blur the line between photography, painting (abstract expressionism and surrealism), and compositional, poetic design. These visual abstractions and colors are clearly important characters in her stories.
Katarina likes to combine different techniques in her works, especially acrylic paints, inks, and photography.
Her photography has been many times featured on EyeEm, a platform connecting 8 million creators, offering more than 32 million photos .
