I started out in functional design, focusing on the technical side. A pivotal moment came when I worked on the Crystal Project, where the need to blend functionality with aesthetics challenged me. This experience sparked a deeper interest in how form and meaning connect. Making abstract art gives me room to think about where usefulness stops and beauty starts. I keep coming back to those moments when movement and stillness touch. Each piece is a way for me to explore change and balance, bringing together what I know how to do with what I imagine.

At my local beach in The Hague, I watch for the moment when sunlight catches a wave. Light, shape, movement, and stillness meet for just a second, then everything changes. That in-between space always draws me in.

This curiosity led me to start the Oceanic Systems series. Endless Summer was about the warmth of memory. With Oceanic Systems, I look beneath the surface, noticing the steady rhythm of the ocean, its quiet presence, and the patterns that keep everything connected.

Oceanic Systems grew from watching how water changes depending on where you stand, how the light falls, or what mood the sky is in. Nothing stays the same for more than a moment. That shifting, layered quality became the heart of this series—not the wave itself, but what happens between one motion and the next.

The crystal glass pigments in the base layer create that same sense of discovery. With their velvety-smooth texture, the pigments invite touch and evoke a haptic response, adding another dimension to the visual experience. At first, you see a simple flow of color, but as you move, hidden tones rise and fall like slow underwater currents. The surface doesn’t just sit there; it reacts. It reveals new details only when the viewer returns, or when the room changes around it.

That’s what Oceanic Systems is about: quiet transitions, small surprises, and the sense that a piece is alive in its own rhythm. It’s not just a surface to look at, but something that keeps offering more with time. The real question is: what will it reveal the next time you look? I remember standing at Cabo da Roca in Portugal, right at the edge of the continent, watching the sun set. The water moved gently, like a deep, violet breath as the sky shifted from coral to blue. In that moment, everything felt suspended. This distilled image of breath, color, and stillness continues to resonate with me.

In each piece, I try to share that sense of balance and those brief moments when everything comes together, and you feel connected to something larger. I use layers of color to show the ocean's depth, and I pick crystal glass pigments to catch the light, the way sunlight touches water. These choices help me hold onto that in-between moment when time seems to pause.

Thank you for noticing what happens between the lines, the waves, and the moments that matter. Please join me in the places where movement slows, where the ocean and light invite you to pause and feel what words cannot reach. Imagine the delicate shimmer that shifts with every sunrise, revealing new dimensions with each moment you engage with the piece. I invite you to see these works or bring them into your space, welcoming a part of these quiet moments. Reach out to arrange a private viewing or inquire about acquiring your own piece, ensuring these serene transitions become part of your everyday life.
